Russell H. Spicer, age 92, passed away peacefully in his home on Thanksgiving morning, 11/26/2020. He was born in Saginaw, to Clifford and Mildred Spicer, and graduated from Arthur Hill High School. Now in the presence of the Lord he is no doubt reuniting with many friends and his beloved wife Maxey, who predeceased him March 9, 2018 after 68 years of marriage. He takes with him the memories of sister Edna (Marlan) Blaisdell who survives him and brother William (Kay) Spicer and sister Beverly Shaw who have predeceased him.
Russell spent a lifetime employed by Spicer Engineering Co., and regaled us with many a story of helping develop municipal civil projects. He enjoyed tending a large vegetable garden, bowling and playing cards with "the guys." Clearing roads and trails with his tractor at his 80 acre "woods" was a favored week-end pastime for both he and Maxey. Mini vacations with best friends and next door neighbors, Kay and Don Moeller were a constant in their adult lives! Together Russ & Maxey organized many a party at the Washington Society, but the backyard pool parties for family & friends remain a priority in the memory book!
As devoted husband, father and grandfather, he leaves behind two children & their families. Son, Kenny and Mary Spicer, granddaughter Sara Stemple (Kurt), and great grandsons, Dustin and Darren. Daughter, Jan and Ken LeCureux and grandson Jonathan. His wife Heather and their children, Eli, Abby and Samuel, who faithfully phoned great grandpa every Sunday...always making his heart sing!
Knowing that Russ lived a full and happy life, we know that he would want all of his friends & family to stay healthy and safe...so we are not having a gathering until it is "safe". Hopefully we can be outside for an old fashioned picnic to celebrate his life; to be announced at a later date.
