Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at the Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan, Michigan. She was 87 years of age. Ruth Elizabeth Graham was born in Saginaw on May 28, 1930, to the late Zephaniah and Harriett (Tyrrell) Graham. A graduate of Arthur Hill High School, she married John A. Griesmayer, Sr. on January 31, 1953 with whom she shared 44 years of marriage until his death in 1997. A devout and religious Catholic woman, Ruth during her lifetime was a member of St. Andrews Parish, St. John Vianney Parish, and then St. Marys Parish in Hemlock. She was also a member of the League of Catholic Women. Ruth played and coached softball; acted as the neighborhood hairdresser for many children; and loved fishing, particularly at her cottage in Glennie, Michigan, or at East Tawas Lake. She enjoyed playing the piano and accordion and in her later years entertained her co-residents at Grandvue. Mrs. Griesmayer is survived by her children, John Griesmayer, Jr., Michael (Teresa) Griesmayer, and Kathy (Russ) Wenzel; her grandchildren, Josh, Zach and Kaleb Griesmayer, and Kelly and Daniel Wenzel; her great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Griesmayer and the soon-to-be born James Griesmayer; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her siblings, Betty Wenzel, Robert Graham, Blanch North, William Graham, Alice Jewell, Z.T. Graham Jr., and Stanley Graham. Funeral Liturgy will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Church, 151 St. Marys Drive, Hemlock, Michigan. Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk will officiate with private burial at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call on the family at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the liturgy.
