Ruth E. Browne of Hemlock, Michigan
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 14, 2022. She was 77 years old. Ruth Elsie Oldenburg was born on June 17, 1944, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Erwin Anthony and Helen Anna (Pomerening) Oldenburg. She attended Hemlock High School. Ruth's love story began at the Scotch Picnic one Labor Day afternoon where she met the love of her life, Charles Wylie Browne. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on November 4, 1961; he survives her. She was a longtime faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hemlock. Throughout her life Ruth took on the role of a second mother and caretaker to many. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre, as well as going to the casino. Ruth also enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and mowing her lawn. She was an exceptional cook and baker renowned for her baked beans, vegetable soup, and bread. Ruth left her indelible mark on this world through the love and care she provided to her family, her beautiful, timeless, and lively spirit, and for her inherint ability to connect with all people, especially children.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Charles W. Browne of Hemlock; daughter, Kelly Latty of Hemlock; son, Charlie (Karen) Browne of Fife Lake; four grandchildren: Jessica (Ryan) Root of Wheeler; Katie (Michael) Ostrom of Fife Lake; Matt (Shelby) Latty of Saginaw; Ashley (Trace) Hughston of McBain; six great-grandchildren with one on the way: Levi Ostrom, Alivia Root, Anson Ostrom, Colt Latty, Brooks Hughston, and Kinsley Root. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Troy Browne; grandson, Joseph Browne; her special buddy she considered her great-grandson, Fisher Simon; sister, Arlene (Jim)Hawes.
Honoring Ruth's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Friday, February 18, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2290 Pretzer Road, Hemlock. Rev. Philp Loescher will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
