Kish, Ruth Gloria Saginaw, MI
Went to meet the Lord November 13, 2015, at the age of 99 years. She was born June 30, 1916, in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of the late Ivar and Regina (Gross) Friedstrom, and grew up in East Trumbull, OH, graduating from Rock Creek H S. Ruth attended Central Bible Institute, Southwestern, and received her teaching degree from Kent State, OH. She taught school in Rock Creek and Newberry Schools. In the early 1950's she shared Pastoring the East Trumbull Assembly of God Church with Helen McClintock. She married Julius Kish in September 23, 1957 and moved to Saginaw; he predeceased her on January 5, 1977. Ruth's first love was for the Lord Jesus and her commitment was to missions, giving her time, energy and money. Ruth worked for missions in the Kentucky Mountains, Peru and Russia. She also was a school and Bible teacher throughout her life and many enjoyed Sunday school with her. Ruth dedicated herself to many women's outreach programs and prison ministries. She enjoyed her family time, especially holiday and birthday functions; and was always ready for a game of scrabble, dominos or Rummikub (she won a few games of Rummikub by Christmas 2012). Ruth also enjoyed Tole painting (giving most pieces away) and was known for her cooking and baking.
Surviving are her step-daughter: Eleanore Mikula, grandson: Michael (Kathy) Mikula and their children: Cory (Amy) Mikula, Toby (Shannon) Mikula, Trevor Mikula, granddaughter: Karla Kirkland; and her son, William Kirkland, 6 nieces and nephews, 12 great-nieces and nephews, 13 great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Charles Mikula and her brother Carl Friedstrom, sister, Esther (Friedstrom) Schanfish, nephew Ed Freidstrom, and great-nephew Andy Kaniclides.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Rev. Steven Bishop will officiate with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
