Ruth Marie Grover Ruyts

Ruth Marie was born on January 28, 1937, to the late Ariel (nee Miller) and George H. Grover. She and her mother lived with her grandparents, the late James C. and Lillie Rutledge Miller. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1955. She went to work at the Second National Bank where she met her future husband, Richard Ruyts. They were married on June 2, 1956. He passed away on May 29, 2019. After working at the bank, she stayed home with her children. Later, she worked for Saginaw Public Schools/Saginaw Intermediate School District for almost 20 years, with 15 years at the Millet Learning Center. After retiring, she worked part-time at ABS for 14 years until she was 79 years old. She was of the Episcopal faith and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi.

She is survived by her daughter Debra (Matt) Murphy and son James Ruyts; grandchildren Nicholas Murphy, DPT, Kathleen Murphy, Michael (Fiancé Alyssa Kowalski) Murphy, and Evan Ruyts; brother-in-law Arthur (Ginger) Ruyts; three nephews; and her friend of more than 75 years, Mary Jane Heitkamp; as well as many other family members and friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Richard; brother-in-law Robert (Virginia) Ruyts; stepfather Marvin Gray; and in-laws Lawrence and Crystal Ruyts.

A funeral service for Ruth will take place at 11:00am on Monday, July 17^th, 2023, at W.L. Case & Company Funeral Home, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Saginaw. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 2:00pm until 7:00pm on Sunday, July 16^th, and on Monday from 10:00am until the time of service, with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Those wanting to make a show of their sympathy may wish to consider a memorial contribution to A&D Hospice or the Saginaw County Animal Care Center.
