Sally Anne Efu of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went home to be with the Lord, with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. She was 70 years old. Sally Anne Rinness was born March 25, 1954, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the later Armin and Lorraine (Strieter) Rinness. Sally was a proud 1972 graduate of Douglas MacArthur High School. She met the love of her life, Donald Efu, while out with friends. It was love at first sight. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage March 31, 1973, in Saginaw; he survives her. The role of her lifetime, one she treasured and cherished above all others, was to be a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She civically served her community by selflessly volunteering her time and talent with the Make A Wish Foundation, Toys for Tots, as well as adopting families at Christmastime from the newspaper. She also loved volunteering at her children’s and grandchildren’s schools. It didn’t matter if she was popping popcorn, attending field trips, or reading stories, her heart felt full whenever she was serving others. Sally was a lifelong and faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. When she wasn’t spending time with family, Sally enjoyed taking daily walks, attending Town Talks Seminars when her mother and circle of friend, and working in some of the most beautiful gardens she created at her home. She will forever be remembered for generosity, for having a true heart of gold, for loving her family, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 52 years, Donald Efu of Saginaw; two daughters: Angela (Jason) Aurand of Mt. Morris; Amber Efu of Saginaw; two grandchildren: Taylor Efu of Saginaw; Johnathan Oehring Jr. of Saginaw; two brothers: Thomas (Joni) Rinness of Bay City; Todd Rinness of Saginaw; a brother-in-law, Dennis Histed of Midland; sister-in-law, Janet (Duane) Metivia of TX. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Armin and Lorriane Rinness; two brothers: Theodore and Timothy Rinness; a sister, Peggy Histed; and a sister-in-law, Paula Smeltzer.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Minoo Khetarpal for all the love and care she provided to Sally and the family over the years.
A funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss Street, Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Michael R. Korte will officiate.
