Haines, Sally Ippel Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on May 8, 2014. Age 82 years. Sally was born on May 5, 1932 the only child of the late Eugene W. and Rena (McColl) Ippel. She was a life-long resident of Saginaw graduating from Arthur Hill High School in 1950. She attended the University of Michigan where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She married Richard (Dick) Haines on July 19, 1952 celebrating over 60 years of marriage. He survives her along with their four children Deborah of Houston Texas, Richard (Suzette Gerard) of Santee, California, Scott (Barbara) of Midland and Karen (Rob) Neilson of Frankenmuth. She also leaves six grandchildren, Jamie Chamberlain, Craig Haines, Katie (Alex) Riemann, Lauren Haines, Evan and Karleigh Neilson. In addition, she is survived by two nieces Kris (Mike) Bunker and Paula (Patrick) Matuzak and two cousins, Suzy (Charles) Huttula and James (Linda) McColl. Also surviving are many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Sally was active in many community organizations including the Junior League of Saginaw Valley and its Garden Club V, the PTA's of Chester Miller, South Intermediate and Arthur Hill High School. She was an active volunteer in the READ Program, was a member of the Friends of the Library, and a former Girl Scout Leader. Sally worked in her family business, The J.W. Ippel Co. and also worked for West Winds Gift Shop and the Mitten Bay Girl Scout Council where she retired as Council Registrar. Sally was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Saginaw, having served as a Sunday school teacher and on the Board of Deacons and Stewardship committees. Sally's greatest joys in life were reading, needlepoint, her many friends including the Otto Roeser gang and her grandchildren. She loved you all in her favorite words" To infinity and beyond." Visitation will be at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Home 4480 Mackinaw Road on Tuesday May 13, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral services will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Saginaw 121 S. Harrison on Wednesday May 14, 2014 at 11:00 am with the Dr. Rev. Robert Emrich officiating. The family will be present at the Church beginning at 10:00 am. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the First Presbyterian Church, The Friends of the Library, or the Saginaw Valley Historic Preservation Society to benefit the Old Saginaw City Historic Sign Park.
