Salomey Ruth Darabos

Salomey passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the age of 82 years. She was born on July 14, 1938 to the late Charles and Marion (Lown) Brenner in Merrill, Michigan. Salomey grew up traveling; her and her family lived in many parts of the United States and several countries as they followed her father and his Army career. She earned an Associate’s Degree from Delta College in Nursing. She married John Joseph Darabos on February 1, 1960.He predeceased her on April 28, 1997.

Salomey was employed as a nurse at Saginaw General in the baby unit. She enjoyed taking care of infants, not only at the hospital but throughout her life. She owned and operated her own dog grooming business, The Animal Cage Dog Grooming (Carrollton Twp) for over 25 years. Later in her life she owned several rental properties where she enjoyed her duties as a landlord. She was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1859 Ladies Auxillary and was active in the Carrollton School Board as a community representative. Salomey enjoyed fishing, boating, bingo, cooking, going to the casino, quilting, sewing, animals, singing and dancing. She earned many awards for her talented dancing at Daniel’s Den in Saginaw. Most of all, she adored the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Charles Darabos, John Darabos, Catrina Williams, Steven Darabos, Christina Darabos, grandchildren: Stefanie Darabos, Megan Testatonda, Holly Love, Carly Sawatski, Lyssa Darabos, Kevin Darabos, Jonathon Darabos, Hans Darabos, Stephan Darabos, Loni Darabos, Allie Taylor and Tate Taylor. She is also survived by her great- grandchildren Giana Testatonda, Marie Darabos, Tatumn Sikorski, Caleb Love and several others. Her siblings Bill (Donna) Brenner, Charles (Dee) Brenner, Catherine (Ted) Bomba and Mary (Rick) Pino also survive her.

Salomey was predeceased by her siblings Baron Brenner, Ellen Brenner, Vernon Brenner and John Brenner.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will celebrate her life late this summer. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial donations to Folds of Honor (P.O. Box 73, Grand Haven, Michigan 49417).
