Sandra Gerard "Sandi"

Our loving wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 24, 2023. Age 77 years.

Sandi was born on August 14, 1943, daughter of the late Walter and Donna (Spear) Whitting, in Saginaw. She married Douglas Gerard on December 14, 1963. He survives her. Sandi was a graduate of Briercrest Bible Institute in Saskatchewan, Canada. Sandi loved the Lord and taught Bible Club to many children leading them to accept Jesus as their savior. Moving back to Saginaw, she continued Bible Club with many children who were influential also in leading their families to Christ. She was a former member of Community Baptist Church where she was member of its choir and leader of the AWANA Program. She was a current member of Immanuel Bible Church, sang in its choir and was leader in the Pioneer Girls. Sandi loved painting, making paintings for both churches and selling paintings in the Detroit, Port Huron and Clare areas. She enjoyed cooking, baking and caring for her family. She used her avid seamstress skills to create beautiful dresses for her daughters. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Sandi will be missed by her loving husband, Douglas Gerard; children, Nathan (Cindy) Gerard, Michelle (Joe) Wortman and Melanie (Tom) Gibbs; grandchildren, Morgan Gerard, Heather (Chester) Miller, Lauren Wortman, Benjamin (Malia) Wortman, Melissa (Larry) Wetherhult, Matthew (Winona) Gibbs, Mikayla Gibbs and Mark (Chloe) Gibbs; great grandchildren, Reager Miller, Chleo Gibbs, Nolan Gibbs and two on the way.

Honoring Sandi’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Saginaw Rescue Mission.
