SanJuanita "Janie" Stever

Our loving mother, grandmother and sister went home to with the Lord on Sunday, December 29, 2024, reunited with the love of her life, Gary Lee Stever. Age 71 years. 

Janie was born on August 25, 1953, daughter of the late Victor and Maria (Gonzalez) Vallegos. She married Gary Lee Stever on September 27, 1997. He predeceased her on September 5, 2001. She had been employed with HSC and more recently at Chester Miller Elementary School, where she loved working with, cared for the children and they loved her back. Janie was very active, enjoyed listening and dancing to Tejano music, but her all-time favorite was Steve Perry and Journey. She enjoyed casino trips, playing BINGO and was an avid San Francisco 49er’s Fan. She had a heart of gold, enjoyed cooking and making sure loved ones outside her family ate a good meal too. She was a nurturing, loving mother to her children, adored her grandchildren and cared well for her dog, Muńeca. 

Janie will be missed by her son, Gino (Rhonda) Hernandez; her daughters, Delores “Loli” Hernandez and Sophia (James) Perry; grandchildren, Delaneo Hernandez, Felicia (Frankie Riche) Walton, Xavier A. Hernandez and Skylar Motley; great grandchildren, Brooke Riche and Frankie Riche, III; her bonus son, Jose (Angie) Estrada; Godson, Mark Vallegos; Goddaughter, Chrystal Allen; brothers and sisters, Antonio (Odulia) Vallegos, Victor Vallegos, Jr. (Carol), Maria Vallegos (Mark) and Kathy (Hoyte) Robinson; many nieces and nephews, including her BINGO Buddies, Alicia Taylor and Casey Allen; her special friends, Jenny Pearson and Paula Vallejo. She was predeceased by her father, Victor Vallegos and sister, Celedoria “Sally” Dean. 

A Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2025, at La Union Civica Mexicana, 2715 Wadsworth Road, Saginaw. Minister James Allen Perry, II will officiate a memorial tribute.  Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
