Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and loyal friend passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper, with his family at his side; at the age of 49 years.

The son of Kathleen C. (Belko) Ashton and the late Donald J. Ashton, Shannon was born on April 1, 1971 in Saginaw, Michigan. He attended Swan Valley High School. Shannon married DeLana F. (Hall) Ashton on August 23, 1996 in Saginaw, Michigan; she survives him. He worked for 25 years at Saginaw Charter Twp DPS. Shannon was a member of Teamsters Local 406. He had a passion for riding motorcycles, four wheelers and snowmobiles. Shannon loved spending his time outdoors, boating, camping, fishing, hunting. His family would describe him as a prankster, hardworking, witty, with a smart answer for any questions. Shannon was a loyal friend and would give his whole soul to those he cared for. Above all, Shannon cherished the time spent with his loving family and two dogs: Kenzie and Audi.

Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 24 years, DeLana Ashton; two daughters and one son: Jenna Ashton (Luke); Jared (Zoie) Ashton; Jaiden Ashton; his mother: Kathleen C. Ashton; one brother: Scott (Lisa) Ashton; one sister: Monica Leuenberger; a very dear niece: Brenna Ashton; and a very dear friend: Sophia. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Shannon was preceded in death by his grandparents: Henry and Irene Belko; his uncle: Henry Belko Jr.; and a very special friend: Allie Keenan.

Honoring Shannon’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Shannon’s Life will take place from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2020 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, Saginaw. Pursuant to the current state executive order, indoor building capacity is limited, face covers are required, and social distancing is encouraged. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to reduce the spread of covid-19 in our community. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to National Kidney Foundation or American Diabetes Association.
