The family of Sharon L. Petty would like to honor and cherish her life that ended August 9, 2024, after a short illness. Sharon was the last child born at home on Front St. (Sharon Rd) in Chesaning, MI, on July 30, 1946, to the late Wayne Bliss Bishop and Marion Angela (Lobert) Bishop. It is difficult for the family to express just the facts of her life because she was such a beautiful and generous soul. Her vibrant spirit helped attract her 2nd husband Gerald Robert Petty I, after meeting him at GM Grey Iron Foundry in Saginaw.

Sharon’s love and loyalty to her family and friends was unending but she would never consider herself saintly. She enjoyed playing poker and a trip or three to the casino each year. Then later traveled a bit to see the country with her husband. When he became ill she engulfed herself into researching their Family History. Growing up with seven brothers , she learned to be strong and loud, with the ability to cuss like a sailor when wronged or angered. She could never hold a grudge for long and quickly returned to her Cinderella self, as her kids would tell her. We will all remember and miss the sound of her laughter. She was a once in a lifetime person to know.

Sharon is survived by her children Scott Wayne Birnbaum and Shann Birnbaum; grandchildren Aaron Shanahan, Nathaniel Shanahan; great grandchildren Duncan Shanahan and Kellan Shanahan; siblings Dennis Bishop, Eugene Bishop, Gary Bishop, and Mick Bishop. She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Marion Bishop; her husband Gerald Robert Petty I; her grandsons; Zachary Alexander Shanahan; Nicholas Grae Shanahan and siblings Ronald Bishop, Roger Bishop, and Terry Bishop.

Honoring Sharon’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Instead a Memorial dinner is being planned by her children, the date and time to be disclosed to family. Those wishing to attend please contact and r.s.v.p, Shann through Facebook, calling or text.

P.S. Let’s not forget a few decks of cards!!!
