Our loving father, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of 93 years.
Shirle was born on February 22, 1931, son of the late Charles and Gertrude (Zissler) Gulliver, in Saginaw. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1949. It was in high school that Shirle met his sweetheart, Donna Grams. The couple would marry on September 8, 1951, and spend over 72 years in marriage together. Donna predeceased him on October 14, 2023. Shirle was very active in varsity sports during high school, and would continue playing basketball while serving in the United States Airforce, during the Korean Conflict. He loved sports. He was active in many softball leagues, including the Dow Corning softball team, watching sports on television and teaching his daughters. He also coached basketball at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Shirle retired from Dow Corning with over 30 years of dedicated service as a Contract Negotiator in Corporate Transportation. He enjoyed the outdoors, which included camping, taking long bicycle rides or walks with his dogs in the woods. Shirle loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be remembered for being a very loving, supportive father, with a patient easygoing spirit and a great sense of humor to make anyone smile.
Shirle is survived by his daughters, Sandy (Doug) Peltier and Holly Gulliver. Also surviving her are many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
