Shirley Anne Veremis of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Friday, July 9, 2021, at New Hope Valley Assisted Living. She was 95 years old. Shirley Anne Easton was born on January 25, 1926, in Lapeer, Michigan, to the late Clark R. and Edna M. (Alderton) Easton. She was a proud 1944 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, Shirley began studying nursing in Grand Rapids. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Peter William Veremis on December 4, 1948; he preceded her in death on October 16, 2013. She was of the Catholic Faith and worked for the Saginaw Diocese as the Director of the Office of Communications, retiring with over 23 years of faithful and dedicated service. Shirley enjoyed traveling with her husband Pete and the spending time with her dog of 17 years, Tessa. Shirley loved and fought passionately for many animal rights organizations over the years. Above all, she loved and cherished her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons and a daughter: Dr. Peter (Theresa) Veremis of Dublin; Barbara Arnas of Saginaw; Stephen Veremis of Saginaw; Tad (Heather) Veremis of Saginaw; four grandchildren: Easton Veremis, Brandon (Kelly) Veremis, Noah Veremis, and Morgan Veremis.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hannah; son-in-law, Dr. George Arnas.
Honoring Shirley’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no public memorial service. A private service will take place later.
