Passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Welcome Home in Auburn at the age of 85 years old.
Shirley was the daughter of the late Merle and Ellen (Kohlschmidt) Bigelow and was born on January 23, 1939, in Saginaw, MI. She married Marvin Hutfilz on September 4, 1970. Marvin died on January 3, 2014. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock. She enjoyed golf and spending time with friends and family.
Shirley is survived by her brother Ron (Dee) Bigelow and sister Suzanne (Richard) Dougherty; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Hutfilz; brothers Don (Drusilla), Eston, Jack (Dorothy), and Bob (Mary Ruth) and sisters Doreen (Robert) O’Toole, JoAnn (Leon) Wilson, half-sister Kristy Brooks; and in-laws Bill and Maxine Hutfilz, and Lois (Bill) Rohde.
Honoring Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday July 20, 2024, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 125 E Saginaw St, Merrill, MI 48637, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Rev. Dr. William L. Morris will officiate the service, with interment to follow in Richland Lutheran Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Merrill District Library, 321 W.
