Shirley Jean (Littlejohn) List – passed away on August 08, 2020, at Wescourt at the age of 92. She was born on June 3, 1928 in Saginaw Michigan. Shirley was the eldest of 8 children born to Georgebelle (Rabideau) and William Percy Littlejohn. She was raised in Saginaw until the age of 13, when her family moved to a family farm in Bridgeport Township. She attended Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1946. At graduation she sat next to Theodore E. List, whom she would marry on November 29, 1947. They were married 69 years.
Shirley was a wonderful homemaker. She loved taking care of her family and home. She volunteered for many tasks at Redeemer Lutheran School, where her children attended, and is particularly remembered as Leader of Girl Scout Troup 51 and Cub Scout Den 59. She is a current member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock and the Ladies Aid Society. She was the first facilitator of READ program at St. Peter Lutheran School. She also volunteered many hours at the Freeland Senior Center at Freeland Sport Zone.
Shirley worked as an Avon consultant, Cort Cosmetic Manager and as a Tupperware Manager. She earned many awards for outstanding Tupperware sales and recruitment. After their retirement, Ted and Shirley traveled around the United States, the Caribbean and Europe.
God blessed Shirley with the ability to put together texture and color in an eye pleasing way. This talent was obvious when you saw the creations she made with stained glass, ceramics, crafts and sewing projects, especially quilting. One of her quilts was highlighted in Quilts, a national quilters’ magazine. At Wescourt, where she had lived the last 5 years, she was known as “Sewing Shirley”.
She is survived by her children: Linda (Wayne) Ackerman of Freeland, Susan (Gary) Delaney of Freeland, Timothy (Ronda) List of Union, Ohio and Michael (Linda Sue) List of Milford, Ohio. Her grandchildren: Benjaman (Megan) List, Laura Ackerman, Sarah (Hans) Kaufmann, Thomas (Christina) List, Brian List, Kelly (Steven) Vilt, Stacy (Chris) Rohr, and Kari (Brandon) Bohl and 12 great-grandchildren. Her brother William (Jackie) Littlejohn of Bridgeport, sister Ruth Sizemore of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, sisters-in-law, Mildred Burt of Saginaw, Pat Littlejohn of Bridgeport, Eleanor Littlejohn of Goetzville, and many nieces and nephews. Also, special bird watching friend Tyler Hayes.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore E. List, her siblings; Robert Littlejohn, Raymond Littlejohn, Beverly Robinson, Gerald Littlejohn, and Kenneth Littlejohn, her sisters-in-law; Jody Littlejohn, Mary Littlejohn, Helene List, and Anita Dewey, brothers-in-law; Lance Robinson, John Burt and Harry Dewey.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at; Covenant Visiting Nurses, Right At Home and Homestead Home Health Care for the exceptional help they provided to Shirley.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at St. Peter Lutheran Church (2461 N. Raucholz Road, Hemlock). Rev. Dr. William Morris will officiate. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at W.L. Case and Company (201 N. Miller Road, Saginaw) and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at church. Pursuant to the current state executive order, indoor building capacity is limited, face covers are required, and social distancing is encouraged. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to reduce the spread of covid- 19 in our community.In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to St Peter Lutheran School, Hemlock, Michigan or the READ Association of Saginaw County.
