Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2020. Age 87 years old.
Shirley was born on July 23, 1932 to the late Omar and Margrette (Trombley) Parker in Saginaw. She married Edward Kalahar on August 12, 1950; he predeceased her on November 24, 2012. Shirley worked for Merrill Community Schools in food service for 25 years. She enjoyed reading and was a part of several bowling leagues in her younger days. She also loved cooking for her six children and her cooking will be very missed.
Surviving are six children, Cheryl (Dennis) Doehring, Gail Felker, Kristie (Greg) Rohde, Michael (Bonnie) Kalahar, Dan (Susan) Kalahar, and Denny (Kim) Kalahar: 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roger Parker and Robert Parker.
Funeral liturgy will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 445 S. Midland Rd., Merrill, MI. Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp, S.J. will officiate with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00 am until the time of mass.
