Meyer, Solomon August 31, 1917 - May 25, 2017 Formerly of Saginaw and Petoskey, MI, Solomon Meyer, age 99, passed peacefully in Traverse City, MI on May 25, 2017 into the loving arms of Jesus his Savior and was reunited with his precious wife Loraine. Solomon and Loraine Caroline (Laundra) married in Saginaw, MI on September 16, 1939 and remained constant companions for 64 years until her passing on June 19, 2003. They have three sons; James E. (Ania) Meyer, Daniel M. (Jill) Meyer, and J. Thomas (Janice) Meyer; six grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sol is preceded in death by parents Jacob and Eva Meyer, seven brothers and three sisters, his wife, and a granddaughter. Sol served during WWII in the US Army on the USS Hope Hospital Ship and proudly flew the U.S. Flag throughout his lifetime. His 70 years of membership in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union #557, Saginaw, was an accomplishment he treasured and proclaimed over the years. Sol was respected and well-liked by his fellow electricians and all who knew him. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Saginaw, MI. His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 7:00 PM on Tuesday. The Rev. Bonnie Smith, longtime friend of the family, will officiate and Sol will be interred in St. Andrew Cemetery, Saginaw.
