Stephen “Steve” “Sonny” Pluta, Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020, at his home. He was 70 years old. Stephen Joseph Pluta Jr. was born on January 3, 1950, in Jerome, Pennsylvania to the late Steve S. and Ann L. (Toath) Pluta. He was a proud 1967 graduate of Buena Vista High School. Following graduation, Steve began working for General Motors Steering Gear retiring as a forklift operator after many years of dedicated service. He married Gail Ann Riedy on June 1, 1982; she survives him. Steve was an avid hunter and a longtime member of the Saginaw Field & Stream Club. He enjoyed bowling, baseball, and golfing and played on several leagues over the years.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Gail Ann Pluta of Saginaw; two sons: Jeremy (Joy) Pluta of Saginaw; Christopher (Samantha) Pluta of Saginaw; four grandchildren: Addie, Grace, JJ, and Charlie Pluta; one sister, Patricia (Sam) Olivarez of Bay City. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Vicki Pluta, Susan Pluta, and Linda (Ed) Bashans.

Honoring Steve’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the W. L.
