Loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, and aunt went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the age of 49 years. The daughter of Maria (Orville) Riley and the late Fred Quiroga was born on August 17, 1966 in San Antonio, TX. At three weeks old, her parents moved her to Saginaw. She married Antonio G. Rodarte, on July 8, 1995; he survives her. She graduated from SVSU with her bachelors and received her Master's degree from CMU in education. Sylvia worked for Sears. She taught in Austin, TX from 1994-2001 where she returned to Saginaw and taught with the Saginaw Public Schools, working at Thompson Middle, South and North Middle Schools. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Anthony of Padua Campus. Sylvia enjoyed reading, music, movies, spending time with her friends and dancing. She most especially loved to spend time with her children, and attended all their school and sporting events. Surviving are her mother and step-father, Maria (Orville) Riley, her husband Antonio, and their children: Antonio "Tony" Luis Rodarte, Alex Ernesto Rodarte, her siblings: Fred (Sally) Quiroga, Aurora (Robert) Guzman, Linda (Enrique) Sanchez, Jesse (Pam) Quiroga, Florencio (JoAnn) Quiroga, Robert (Robin) Quiroga, Sonia (Ernesto) Garcia, Gloria Derige, 19 nieces and nephews, 22 great-nieces and nephews, her father and mother-in-law: Pedro and Sulema Rodarte, two brothers-in-law: David Rodarte, Reuben Rodarte, sister-in-law Julia (Jeff) Rogalski. She is also survived by many relatives in San Antonio, TX and many dear friends: Sarah Votruba, Lisa Rhodus, Maggie Isotalo, Martha Reyes, Mary Ann Coe, Jose and Eva Mireles, and Missy Sprague The family wishes to thank Dr. Bazzi and staff, Dr. Nayak and staff, the late Dr.Nina, the staff at Cartwright Care Center for the loving care they provided Sylvia during her final days, as well as the nursing staff at Covenant Healthcare, 7th Floor Harrison and her church family for all their love, support and prayers. Funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. Francis of Assis Parish, St. Anthony of Padua Campus, 3680 S. Washington Rd. Fr. Thomas Schmied and Fr. Joseph Schabel will officiate with burial at Mt. Olivet cemetery. Friends may visit at the W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. where a vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be on Friday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi religious education fund.
