Terrance L. Smith

Passed away October 22, 2024, at the age of 85 years surrounded by his family and close friends. 

He was born on September 3, 1939, in Bay City, Michigan to the late John and Martha (Gross) Smith. Terry served in the United States Army from January 1959 until March 1962. He began working at General Motors, Saginaw Steering Gear in 1963 in Plant 4 and retired after 30 years of service. During his time there, he served 18 years as a committeeman for UAW Local 699. Terry enjoyed fishing and hunting for many years. He also was an avid gardener and would spend his summers canning tomato juice and making sun dill pickles that were loved by many. 

Terry leaves behind his children Kathryn Cathell and Dan (Jennifer) Smith; stepchildren Pam (Bill) Jozwiak, Judi Price and Daniel (Belen) Kramer; grandchildren John Cathell, Daniel C. Smith, Derrick Smith, Dominick Smith, Jared Smith, Jodi (Brian) Stopyak, Jamie Jozwiak, Jon Jozwiak, Tiffani (Schuyler) Long; great-grandchildren Claire Stopyak, Will Stopyak, Samuel Stopyak, Sophia Jozwiak, Charlie Jozwiak, Caroline Jozwiak and London Coleman; many nieces and nephews; his two best friends Larry Bronz and Manny Bajaras, and countless other friends. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Carole Smith, stepchildren Sandra Chwala and Jeffrey Kramer, son-in-law John W. Cathell, sister Rosalie Keech and brother-in-law Larry Tucker. 

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy, may wish to consider a charity of your choice in Terry’s name. Arrangements have been entrusted to the W. L.
