Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Terry Lee Dobson, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
Terry was born on October 18, 1945, in Ispheming, Michigan, to the late John Joseph and Dorothy Ivy (Hooper) Dobson. He earned his bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University in 1968. Terry joined the U.S. Army in 1970 where he honorably served for two years. He then began his career with General Motors, working in the Buick Motor Division. He retired from the General Motors Proving Grounds in 2004. In his free time, he kept busy doing woodworking and other projects for family, friends and neighbors. He also used his talents to help maintain St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School where he served as a trustee for many years. He served as the treasurer on the Prairie Creek Homeowner's Association Board and was very well respected in the neighborhood. He and his wife Sue shared a love of travel their 20 years of marriage, enjoying the sights of Sydney, Paris, Rome, and Tokyo, amongst many other destinations.
Terry is survived by his wife, Sue; brother-in-law, Ronald (Stu) Sihtala; step-son, Mark Stobbelaar; step-granddaughter, Amber (Adam) Levely, and their three boys, Aidan, Evan, Brennan; step-son, Ronald (Kristie) Miner, and their two daughters, Paige and Sydney Birchmeier; step-daughter, Laura (McCoy) Green, and their daughter, Kaylee; step-son, William (Megan) Miner, and their four children, Elizabeth, Madelynne, Matthew, and Andrew; niece, Laura Sihtala, and her daughter Emmalee; nephews, Michael (Rita) Dobson, Paul (Jan) Dobson, Timmy (Vickie) Dobson; and several great nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Terry was predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy; his brother, William "Bill" and his wife Pat; his sister, Susan Sihtala; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Stobbelaar; and his first wife Peggy, to whom he was married for 18 years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 1020 Court St, Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. David Naumann will officiate. Friends and family will be received from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603, as well as at the church Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private burial will take place at Ishpeming Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
