The Rev. Carl William "Bill" Weis

Went to his Savior Jesus on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at age 58. He was born July 16, 1959 in Hammond, Indiana, son of Lois M. (Hilgendorf) and the (late) Rev. Earl E. Weis. He and Karen Reich were married July 27, 1985, in Houston, Texas at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. She survives him. Pastor Weis served Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw starting in 2004 until his passing. Reverend Weis educational history includes St. Paul High School and College, Concordia, MO, and he finished his Bachelor of Arts program at Concordia College, St. Paul, Minnesota. He then received his Master of Divinity degree at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO. His prior pastorates include: St. Peter Lutheran Church in Florida, Ohio and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flatrock Township, Henry County, Ohio and Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw, Michigan. Pastor Weis was talented in many areas outside the ministry. He was passionate about his family and children. He loved dogs, fishing, hunting, music, barbecuing and enjoying nature with his boys and daughters-in-law. He enjoyed all things mechanical, especially the internal combustion engine. His latest favorite activity was playing with his grandchildren at the park. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Karen, of Saginaw, MI and his mother, Lois Weis; his two sons, Samuel (Jessica) of Saginaw, MI; Joseph (Amber) of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Henry, Harper and Finley; four sisters, Connie (Andy) Alsip of Ohio, Christine (Tom) Hartshorn of New York, Rebecca (Franz) Mayer of Missouri; Beth (Kim) Gipson of Alabama; numerous nieces and nephews The funeral and committal service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave. at Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw. The Rev. Dr. John Mehl and Rev. Matthew Hauser will officiate. A reception and time of sharing will follow the service. Friends may call at Peace Lutheran School, 3161 Lawndale Rd., Saginaw from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday June 6, 2018.
