Thelma M. Schoenknecht

Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Age 93 years.

Thelma was born on July 24, 1927, daughter of the late Oscar and Catherine (McGuire) Deibel, in Saginaw. She married Ruben Schoenknecht on October 30, 1948. He predeceased her in May 1982. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #229 Women’s Auxiliary and Saginaw County 4H. Thelma enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She loved the Christmas holiday season, baking delicious cookies for her grandchildren and admiring the Christmas tree and decorations. Thelma will be remembered for having a sweet, calm and loving spirit.

Surviving are her sons and daughter, Ronald (Kathryn Laethem) Schoen, Robert (Patricia) Schoenknecht and Sally (Donald) Sloboda; grandchildren, Donna, Renee, Floyd Jr., Mark, Kevin, Laura and Ryan; great grandchildren, Cassandra, Zack, Macey, Wilbert, Cameron, Wesley, Waldon and Addisenne. She was predeceased by her son, Floyd Schoenknecht, sister, Ruth Deibel, brother and sister-in-law, Carl (Ann) Deibel, brothers and sisters-in-law, Arnold (Leona) Schoenknecht and Norbert (Erma) Schoenknecht, sister and brother-in-law, Irene (Fred) Bickel and sister-in-law, Ellie Stokes.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 E. Holland Road. Pastor Daniel Wojtowicz will officiate with burial in St. John Cemetery-Frankentrost. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
