Thomas E. Burger West Branch, Michigan Formerly of Saginaw, Passed away on April 14, 2018, at the age of 89 with family members at his side. Thomas was born January 19, 1929, in Saginaw to the late Louis and Louise Burger. On October 27, 1951, he married Byrd Ann Smith and they were happily married for nearly 66 years; she predeceased him on August 9, 2017. He proudly served as a 1st Lieutenant for the US Army Security Agency during the Korean War. Tom later farmed the family farm until 1972 when he, Byrd Ann, and their sons opened Burgers Service and Sales, an outdoor power equipment dealership. They ran the business until retirement in 1999. He was a member of many associations, boards, and groups including the Jewett School Board, the VFW Post 9809, the Kochville United Methodist Church, Saginaw Co. Agricultural Society (Saginaw Fair), Delta Mower, Michigan Equipment Dealers, National Small Engine Dealers and others. Tom was honored to hold the office of Township Clerk of Kochville for 29 years. After moving to West Branch, he belonged to the Ogemaw Hills Snowmobile Club and stayed active volunteering at the West Branch Regional Hospital, Camp Timbers, and as a trail groomer. Tom will be missed and remembered as a very caring and good father by his sons, Michael T. (Teri) Burger, Kevin D. (Beth) Burger, Tem R. (JoAnne) Burger, and lovingly remembered by his 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Betty McNair and brother David. His family would like to extend a thank you to the wonderful and caring staff at McLaren Bay Region. According to his wishes, Tom bequeathed himself to the University of Michigans Medical School.
