Thomas J. Mikek

Thomas J. Mikek Hemlock, Michigan Passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018, age 88 years. He was born on October 27, 1929, son of the late Andrew and Anna (Tomascovich) Mikek Sr, in Merrill, MI. Thomas married Elsie Petersen on November 21, 1964. She survives him. He was a member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Marys Church. Thomas retired from Saginaw Steering Gear after many years of service and was a member of the U.A.W. Local #699. He enjoyed farming, gardening, listening to Polka music, going to auction sales and loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by his wife, Elsie; children, Karen (Todd) Hutter of Freeland, Joe Mikek (Sara) of Merrill and Amy (Paul) Struble of Sheridan, MI; his grandchildren, Joe Mikek Jr. of Vermont, Kayla Mikek and her fianc, David Kipfmiller of Hemlock, Logann Liebrock and DJ of Sheridan, MI, Jake and Carissa Hutter of Freeland and Drew Hutter of Freeland; his great grandson, David Thomas Kipfmiller and three more great grandchildren to come this year; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by eleven siblings and their spouses, Steven (Rose) Mikek, Anna (Walter) Tonsic, Mary (Royal) Lenhart, Sophie (Gil) Clark, George (Rose) Mikek, Andrew (Marie) Mikek, Jean (John) Wagner, Rose (Austin) Shay, Frank (Doris) Mikek, John Mikek, Alice (John) Tomancik and two infant brothers. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Marys Church, 151 St. Mary Drive, Hemlock. Fr. Dennis Kucharczyk will officiate with entombment at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, March 5, 2018 at W. L. Case and Company, 201 N. Miller Road, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
