Thebolt, Thomas Roland Birch Run, Michigan Mr. Thomas Roland Thebolt, Birch Run, MI, passed away with his family by his side, on May 17, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Thebolt was born on July 12, 1945 in Detroit, MI to the late Roland and Maude Thebolt. Thomas married the former Dianne Rose Carney, on August 23, 1969 in Saginaw, MI where they made their home. He graduated from Visitation High School, Detroit, MI and furthered his education at Western Michigan University, earning both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. Tom taught elementary education in the Saginaw Public School District for thirty years. He was a member of numerous organizations, including Sigma Pi Fraternity, National Education Association, Michigan Education Association and Saginaw Education Association. Tom was Past President of the Saginaw Valley Irish Club and enjoyed all things Irish, including Celtic Music and lessons in bagpiping. He was a die-hard University of Michigan Football fan and Detroit Tiger Baseball fan. Tom most recently purchased a winter home in Lakeland, FL so that he could watch his beloved Tiger's during Spring Training Camp. Tom and Dianne traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad during their marriage with a favorite destination being Ireland. He was a long-distance runner, and was proud to have completed four marathons. He also enjoyed stamp collecting for many years. Tom volunteered at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center with the No Veteran Dies Alone program. In addition to his loving wife Dianne, Tom leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Laure L. Thebolt, Lakeland, FL; son, David T. Thebolt, Birch Run, MI; sister, Madelon (Marc) Possley, Ann Arbor, MI; mother-in law, Arlene Carney, Saginaw, MI; sister-in law, Sandra (Richard) Pincombe, Rockford, MI; sister-in-law, Shelly(Arthur) Pullen, Saginaw, MI; and sister-in-law, Suzanne Thebolt, Plymouth, MI. Tom was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Minnema; brother, George Thebolt; sister Martha Terlep; and father-in-law, Charles Carney. In addition to those listed above, Tom leaves numerous nephews and nieces and his dear friend, Lisa Harris, Saginaw, MI. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at SS Francis and Clare Catholic Church, 12157 Church Street, Birch Run. Rev. Fr. Thomas McNamara will officiate. Private burial will take place later at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Tom's family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 3:00 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, where a Vigil Service, led by Sr. Elaine Raymond, MSSP, will take place at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Family and friends may then gather at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
