Tommie Ann Rutkiewicz of Thomas Township
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Symphony Care of Tri-Cities in Bay City. She was 90 years old. Tommie Ann Moffett was born on April 17, 1931, in Henley, Texas, to the late Ras and Lena (Buckley) Moffett. She was a proud graduate of Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Following graduation, Tommie worked as a reservationist with Braniff Airlines. She met the love of her life, Joseph Anthony Rutkiewicz, while he was in Kansas City visiting a friend. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on June 8, 1957, in Kansas City; he survives her. Tommie was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was gifted artistically, meticulous, and had the steady hands to create and beautifully paint china. She had the innate ability to connect through music by playing piano, organ, and had the voice of an angel. Tommie also enjoyed bowling and golfing. Above all, she loved and cherished spending time with her family. She will forever be remembered for amazing sense of style and dress, sharing her art skills with friends and family, and for the love she had for her family.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Joseph Anthony Rutkiewicz Sr. of Thomas Township; two daughters and two sons: Katherine (William) Kehoe of Hemlock; Joseph Anthony Rutkiewicz Jr. of Hemlock; Patricia Rutkiewicz of Wheaton, IL; Jason (Briana) Rutkiewicz of Freeland; six grandchildren: Joseph Anthony (Lora) Rutkiewicz III, Christopher Kehoe, Lindsey Kehoe, Katelyn (Brandon) Lang, Emma Rutkiewicz, and Matthew Rutkiewicz; three great-grandchildren: Vincent Rutkiewicz, Logan Rutkiewicz, and Malcolm Rutkiewicz.
She was preceded in death by grandson, Nicholas Kehoe; six brothers and three sisters.
Honoring Tommie's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at the W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Road. Rev. Fr. Kevin Wojciechowski will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Alzheimer's Association.
