Vasilios Zestos Canton, Michigan
Vasilios Demetrios Zestos was, for fifty eight years, a beloved and devoted husband to his wife Maria (nee Kalogeros), and together they dedicated their lives to each other, to their community, and to those they loved. The adored brother of Lula Matsiota of Athens Greece, the revered father of Dr. Demetrios (Dr. Maria) and George (Katerina), and cherished grandfather of Eleni, Vasili, Sofia, Mariangela, and Argyri, he was a wonderful example of hard work and faithfulness to all of them. One of three children of Eleni and Demetrios Zestos (with George and John, deceased) of Deleria, near Larissa Greece, he was raised primarily by his father, his mother having died when he was five, and he tended the family farm in Greece for much of his early life. In 1975 he brought his wife and sons to live in Saginaw, where he loved working with his nieces and nephews in his brother's restaurant, Johnny's Bonanza. Vasilios D. Zestos was a hunter and enjoyed the outdoors, and this made his new home, Michigan, and the friends he made here, dear to his heart. He loved playing cards, he returned to Greece every summer to spend time with the friends and family of his youth, but it was his wish to be buried in Saginaw next to his brothers George and John, and his father Demetrios.
