Loving, caring, mother, grandmother and friend passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, at Covenant Cooper. Age 91 years.
The daughter of the late Ruth (Kolb) and Arvil Sloan was born May 28, 1932, in Princeton, Indiana. She graduated from Princeton High School and Oakland City College. She married Elmer Graper Jr., on October 15, 1950. He passed away, September 30, 2012. Vera taught at Westdale Elementary School in Saginaw Township for 28 years. She was a member of Community Reformed Church in Saginaw, volunteered at the Caring Closet and enjoyed gardening, sewing, puzzles, collecting antiques and politics. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Surviving are her children, Sharon (Rick) Mavis, Traverse City, MI; Carolyn Graper; Jonathan Graper both of Saginaw, MI; her grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) Denniston, Traverse City, MI; Rachel (Vern) Coblentz, Grawn, MI; Vera was looking forward to the adoption of a great grandson; her sister and brother, Joan (Don) Bradshaw, Conroe, TX; Robert Sloan, Francisco, IN; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister and brother-in-law, Lavon (Sloan) White and Carroll White.
A private burial will take place in Chapel Hill Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
