Beiser, Vernard G. Saginaw, Michigan Much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away early Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Covenant Cooper. Age 87 years. He was born February 7, 1926 in Bay County, the son of the late Rose (Gaiser) and Carl Beiser. He served with the US Navy during World War II, in the European and Pacific Theaters. He was a member of the Underwater Demolition Team #3, which was a precursor to the S.E.A.L.S. He married Doris Hertz on October 18, 1947; she survives him. Vern had been employed for a number of years by Baker Perkins and Rems Corporation. For the majority of his career, he owned Vern Beiser Custom Cabinets. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, and had served as an usher and teller for many years. Vern was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He and Doris enjoyed time spent at the family cottage on Sage Lake with family, friends, and church groups. Vern was a man of God, had an unconditional love of family, and was the best Pop Pop to his loving grandchildren. Surviving besides his wife Doris are two daughters, two sons, and their spouses, Susan and John F. Breen Jr., Saginaw; Rick and Patti Beiser, Aspen, Colorado; Cathy and Dennis Haglund, Saginaw; Mitch and Kimber Beiser, Chicago, Illinois; his grandchildren, John F. Breen III, USMC, and his wife Juli, Sarah L. Breen, Jennifer and her husband Brandon Rossi, Katie Beiser, Christopher Beiser, Shannon Etling and Drew Etling; one brother, Armond and his wife Cecelia Beiser, Bay City; several sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and their families. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Marge Beiser, and by three brothers, Carl, Lorraine, and Ted Beiser. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Avenue. Rev. C. William Weis will officiate. Military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #439 will follow the services. Private committal services will take place later at Holy Cross Cemetery, with Rev. Paul Hinz officiating. Vern's family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 2:00 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m. on Friday, and then at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
