Vernice L. Darland (Medaris) Saginaw, Michigan Vernice passed away on April 20, 2013 in Saginaw, MI. She was born in Saginaw on July 22, 1925 to Leroy and Louise Medaris Wiseman. She married Donald Darland in 1943 and was blessed with seven children. Vernice graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1943. She retired in 1990 from Saginaw County Child Development Center where she was employed as a bookkeeper. After her retirement, she served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Community Village by sewing quilted lap throws for veterans. Vernice was a former member of the Saginaw First Church of God, and was a member of Hopevale Church. She enjoyed writing poetry, sewing, gardening and many other hobbies. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Surviving her are her children: Donna (Nick) Proctor of Rocky Mount, VA, Daniel (Susan) Darland of Kawkawlin, MI, Darlene (Roger) Schneider of Saginaw, MI, Donald (Alice) Darland of Rochester, MN, Victoria (Doug) Nelson of Haymarket, VA, her stepbrother David Wiseman, grandchildren Johnathan (Robin) Proctor, Matthew Proctor, Joseph (Amanda) Darland, Brian Schneider, Kimberly Schneider, Melissa Darland, Magen (Joel) Miller, Michael (Rebekah) Nelson, Amanda Nelson, and great-grandchildren Aiden & Dylan Darland and Emma Miller. Vernice was predeceased by her children Margaret and Diana Darland. Friends may call at Case's Funeral Home on Mackinaw Rd from 3:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, April 25 2013. On Friday, April 26 2013 at First Presbyterian Church on 121 S. Harrison in Saginaw, visitation will occur from 10:00am until 11:00am, with the service immediately following. Dr. Robert Emrich will be officiating. Vernice will be interned at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw, MI.
