Victoriano “Victor” Vallegos, Sr. of Carrollton, Michigan
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Thursday, January 25, 2023. He was 93 years old. Victoriano Vallegos was born on March 23, 1929, in Pleasanton, Texas, to the late Hipolito and Margarita (Martinez) Hernandez. He met the love of his life, Maria Gonzalez, while in Mexico with friends and it was love at first sight. They were united in marriage on March 12, 1951, in St. Charles, Michigan. she preceded him in death on February 16, 1993. He was a farmer throughout his life. working as a foreman for Walther’s Potato Farm in Cass City and traveling to various locations throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region, and he also worked at Michigan Sugar where he oversaw filling both one-pound bags for restaurants and fifty-pound bags for bakeries. The role of his lifetime was to be a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Victor was an extraordinary man and lived an amazing life filled with many beautiful stories and memories. His little piece of heaven was gardening and cooking his famous enchiladas, tamales, and menudo. Above all he treasured and cherished the time he was able to spend with his family. Victor will forever be remembered for proudly riding his bicycle around the community until he was 86 years old, for his selflessness to anyone in need, and for the love and admiration he had for family.
Surviving him are five children and their spouses: SanJuanita Stever, Kathy (Hoyte) Robertson, Maria (Mark) Vallegos, Antonio (Lulu) Vallegos, Victor (Carol) Vallegos Jr., Kathy Duranso; long-time companion, Margaret Patterson; a special grandson and granddaughter, Jeremy and Casey Rosa; a favorite cousin, Salome Martinez; a favorite niece, Lupe Martinez; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; five sisters: Angelina, Bertha, Josie, Elvira, and Manuela; and one special brother, Margartio Hernandez.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Vallegos; a daughter, Celedoria Vallegos Dean; a grandson, Emanuel Villareal; granddaughter, Celia Rosa; sons-in-law, Gary Stever, James Rosa and Clifford Burden; and a special sister-in-law, Aida Deleon of Texas.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Covenant VNA Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Victor and the entire family.
A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023, at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. His Granddaughter Sophia Perry and her husband Minister James Perry will officiate. Honoring Victor’s wishes cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with family at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
