Viola “Vi” Rose Anderson of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Great Lakes Rehab Center. She was 96 years old. Viola Rose Wenzel was born on September 19, 1924, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Fred E. and Elizabeth (Fleming) Wenzel. She married George W. Anderson on January 4, 1943; he preceded her in death on September 26, 1976. Vi was a faithful member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and a member of the VFW in Midland with her daughter. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, especially teaching the 4H girls in Hemlock. Above all, Vi loved spending time with her family. She will forever be remembered for her loving, kind, and selfless spirit.
Surviving are three sons: Harold (Sheila) Anderson of Thomas Township; Michael (Alice) Anderson of Thomas Township; Kenneth Anderson of St. Charles; daughter-in-law, Shirley Anderson of Breckenridge; two sons-in-law, Alvin Gerard Jr. of Midland; Edward Zieroff of Gladwin; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Kenneth (Shirley) Wenzel of Saginaw. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son and two daughters: Wesley F. Anderson, Sharon L. Gerard, and Dorothy M. Zieroff.
A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Dr. William Morris will officiate. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, face coverings are required and social distancing encouraged. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
