Virginia Marie Brandt, 93, of East Jordan, Michigan and Sun City West, Arizona, passed away while at Covenant Harrison Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan, on Sunday, May 17, 2015.
Virginia was born February 6, 1922, in the Village of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, to the late Anderson Doniphan and Virginia Marie (Duncan) Russell. She graduated Salutatorian from Birmingham High School. She married Otto W. Brandt, Sr. on January 29, 1943, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Birmingham. He preceded her in death in 2006. Virginia was a self-employed artist, a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed her many friends in East Jordan and Sun City West, especially the Women's Club; as well as gardening, golfing and taking classes in such varied subjects as computers, carpentry, and Hawaiian dancing. Virginia possessed many admirable qualities including but not limited to mentoring, charm, wit, grace, generosity, determination, grit, friendship and love. She was truly a model matriarch. One of the strongest links in the Lord's chain of life is now gone.
Virginia is survived by her son, Otto W. Brandt, Jr., of Saginaw. She also leaves three wonderful grandchildren, Jennifer L. Hibbard of Minneapolis, MN; Matthew C. (Raquel) Brandt, of Pleasanton, CA; and Russell J. (Julianne Marie) Brandt of Chandler, AZ. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Nikki (Ian) Lawler, Sydney Marie Brandt, and Parker James Brandt; and a great, great-grandchild, Malachi Lawler. A daughter, Gayla Marie Hibbard Richner, predeceased her in 1997.
Services are not scheduled at this time. At memorial service will be held on a later date for family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. The family was served by W. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, MI.
