W. Herbert Bock

Bock, W. Herbert "Herb" Saginaw, MI Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Covenant-Harrison at the age of 92. Herb was born April 21, 1921, in Saginaw to the late William and Edith (Herman) Bock. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1938. He attended Ferris State University receiving a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacology. After college he joined the U.S. Army serving in WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He married Marceil Beyer on September 11, 1948. She predeceased him December 7, 2012. Together, they opened Bock Pharmacy on the corner of State and Center Roads in Saginaw Township on October 20, 1948. They operated the pharmacy for 25 years until selling it and retiring in 1973. They enjoyed spending winters in Florida. Herb attended Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his cabin on Cranberry Lake, working with wood, and collecting and selling antiques. He is survived by his children, W. Herbert Bock Jr.; and Robert (Diane) Bock; grandsons, William Bock and Brian (Dawn) Bock; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Ron, and Ceciel Bock; two step-great-granddaughters, Stephanie and Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant grandson Anthony James Bock; 3 brothers; and brother-in-law, Donald (Gwen) Beyer. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1209 Hancock St. Rev. Susan Hand will officiate with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of VFW Post #1859 of Carrollton. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Road.
