Our loving father and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 15, 2020. Age 87 years.
Walter was born on April 2, 1933, son of the late Ralph and Helen (Rodgers) Winchell, in Wilmington, NC. He served in the United States Navy where he obtained his mechanical experience. Walter married Joyce E. Bonnell on November 8, 1975. She predeceased him on September 22, 2015. He retired from Hemlock Semi-Conductor after many years of service. Walter was “Mr. Fix It” and enjoyed tinkering in his garage. He had enjoyed flower gardening with his loving wife, Joyce and was very devoted to his family. Walter enjoyed and looked forward to drinking coffee with his special friends at McDonald’s in Hemlock every morning.
Walter will be missed by many, including his daughter, Pamela (Thomas) LeTourneau; granddaughter, Breeann LeTourneau; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Dave) Schafer and Joyce Bonnell; brother-in-law, James Gustara; many nieces, nephews and dear friends, Ron and Sarah. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman Bonnell, Helen Gustara, Adeline and Lloyd Thomas and his cat Zoe.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2565 N. Miller Road. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Mark Lutheran Church or the Saginaw County Humane Society. Pursuant to the current state orders indoor building capacity is limited, face masks are required, and social distancing encouraged. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to help stop the spread of covid-19 in our community.
