Beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the age of 76 years surrounded by his family at his home. The son of the late L. V. and Eva Mae (McGill) Norman was born on July 2, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, TX; coming to Saginaw at the age of nine. He graduated from Saginaw High- the class of 1957. Walter later retired from GM in 2007 after 47 years of service where he was active in the U.A.W. Local #699. He also attended Frist Free Methodist Church and was active in community service in the Saginaw area. Walter enjoyed photography, playing his guitar, listening to music, collecting coins, traveling and most especially loved family vacations. He cherished time spent with his family and friends. Walter married his wife of 42 years, Marilyn Sawdon; she survives him. He is also survived by his children: Rhonda Norman, Rodney (Anne Christine) Norman both of Saginaw; Walter Nathaniel Norman of Georgia; Gregory (Jennifer) Norman of Virginia; grandchildren: Kyla, Jayla, Skye, Lawson Bishop, Cynthia, Jarvis, and Cornelius; 4 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law: Carl (Renee) Sawdon, sister-in-law Louise Norman, his nieces and nephews: Forest Norman, Jr., Anita Norman, Carrie (Dustin) Runyon, Lisa (Scott) McKernam and many other dear friends. He was predeceased by his grandson, Jordan Norman and his brother Forest Norman. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at the First Free Methodist Church, 2625 North Center Rd. Rev. Joseph W. Cunningham will officiate with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider First Free Methodist Church or the wishes of the family.
