Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on March 23, 2022, at Covenant Healthcare. Age 86 years.
Walt was born on May 10,1935, in Adrian, Michigan, to the late Ethel and Ward Maltman. He graduated from Onstead High School and continued his studies at Western Michigan University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. He went on to work for General Motors Steering Gear/Delphi; retiring after 28 years of service. He married Joyce Wilkin on May 21, 1955; she survives him. Walt enjoyed golfing and bowling at Germania and playing bridge with friends. He also enjoyed photography and his Camaro. Walt was a quiet, caring man. Above all else he loved time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild, showing them all the things he loved to do and taking them to get their Cokes.
Walter is survived by his wife, Joyce Maltman, two daughters: Kim (Jim) Ortiz and Jennifer (Michael) Voight; three grandchildren: Drew (Laura) Voight, Rachel (Michael) Willis, and Grace Voight; a great-grandson, Luke, as well as many friends.
Along with his parents Walter was predeceased by two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Hannah.
Honoring Walt's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at First United Methodist Church, 4790 Gratiot Road, Saginaw. Pastor Amy Terhune will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family after services take place.
