Wanite M. Kubik of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at HealthSource of Saginaw. She was 90 years old. Wanite Margaret Challenger was born on December 27, 1932, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Edward J. and Anna C. (Varney) Challenger. She married Gerald Edward Kubik on April 28, 1951; he preceded her in death on September 16, 2013. She owned and operated her own daycare business providing loving and dedicated service in her home throughout the community. The role of her lifetime was to be a loyal and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Besides taking care of children, Wanite’s little piece of heaven was baking. She loved to make rock candy, peanut brittle, and cooking large holiday dinners which included large family gatherings. Wanite also enjoyed cheering for her favorite baseball team, the Detroit Tigers. She will forever be remembered for her loving and caring spirit, her selflessness to anyone in need, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter: Russell Kubik, Mary Kubik, and Michael Kubik; two daughters-in-law, Martha Kubik and Patricia Kubik; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and a few great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Kubik; two sons, Joseph Kubik and Timothy Kubik; a grandson; a daughter-in-law, Lori Kubik; four brother’s: Russell (Ruth) Yencer, Edward (Elaine) Challenger, Eli Challenger and Lawrence Challenger; and two sisters, Edith Challenger and Pearl (Donald) Merlone.
A Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Kurt Cullison will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the funeral home or through www.casefuneralhome.com.
