Passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the age of 92 years. Weldon was born on September 29, 1924, in Hemlock to the late Grover and Hazel (Irish) Sheltraw. He married Ruth M. Pruess on May 26, 1946; she predeceased him on March 29, 2015. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII and was a member of the Hemlock-Merrill V.F.W. Post 7302. He owned and operated Sheltraw's Meat Market and was employed by St. Lukes Hospital for 10 years. He was a life-long member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hemlock. He served as a Volunteer Fireman with the Richland Township Fire Dept and was a member of the Mary C. Raucholz Library. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his children: Connie (Jim) Krueger and Curt (Janis) Sheltraw; grandchildren, Tammy (Alan) Collard, Keith (Caryn) Krueger, Chad Krueger, Kelly Sheltraw, and Kerry (Robert) Laviolette; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother: Woodrow (Ruth A.) Sheltraw, sister, Mary Eleanor (Jim) McSweyn. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Rd, Hemlock. Rev. Dr. William L. Morris will officiate with military honors under the auspices of V.F.w. Post 7302. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
