Beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully after a lifelong battle with diabetes on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the age of 70 years. William was born on July 11, 1949 in Saginaw. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Vietnam. Bill retired from his life-long career working for General Motors. Bill was also a lifelong member of the VFW Post 1859. His first loves were his daughter and grandchildren, followed by his second love, Harley motorcycles. Surviving are his daughter, Jamie (Sonny) Earls, grandchildren: Brandon and Colin Earls, his niece, Michelle (Darryl) Frost, nephew, Mark (Sheila) Neath, great-nephews: David Neath, Zachary Neath, Jordan Frost, Justin Frost and many friends. Bill was predeceased by his father, William A. Sayles Sr., his mother and step-father, Mary K. and Robert J. Averill, his sister Margaret Neath and his beloved cat, Harley. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Chaplain Lon Cook will officiate with military committal at Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of V.F.W. Post 1859. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Diabetes Association.
