William "Bill" Tarachas

Bay City, Michigan

Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, with his family at his side. Age 82 years.

The son of the late Demosthenes “James” and Georgia (Komnas) Tarachas, Bill was born on July 16, 1942, in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Bill continued his education, he proudly graduated from Michigan State University, where he was a member of the Tri Delta Fraternity and was a life-long Michigan State University fan. He married Thespo “Bo” Christides on June 20, 1965. They shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. She survives him. Bill was a manager at Edward’s Men’s Shop for over 50 years of loyal and dedicated service. He was a life-long member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Order of AHEPA, and Delta College’s Delta Sigma Nu Fraternity. Bill had a thrill of adventure, as seen in his love for his speed boat and snow skiing. He enjoyed the simple pleasure of riding his golf cart and cherished his time with horses, which held a special place in his heart. His enthusiasm for travel allowed him to explore new places and create lasting memories. Above all, Bill cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving besides his wife, Bo Tarachas, is his brother, Achilles James Tarachas; his daughters, son and their spouses, Georgiann and John DiMercurio, Stephanie and Andrew Mehl, James and Katie Tarachas; eight grandchildren, Sophie, Peter, Luke, Bella, Lily, Lucy, Clark, and Ava. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, John J. Tarachas.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 4970 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Fr. Timothy Cook will officiate with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at W. L.
