Denny was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on October 8, 1947, the son of the late, John and Lois (Hood) Sutfin. He was a young child when his parents moved to Michigan. Denny graduated from Arthur Hill High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War on a Six Man Special Force Team. He served on a six-man special force team, and he was an advisor, earning a bronze star. Denny was employed with General Motors for 32 years retiring in 1998. He held several jobs after his retirement, settling in on real estate where he worked for Prudential for nearly 10 years before retiring again. Denny married the love of his life Dale Lynn Williams, September 3, 1977. They recently celebrated their 45th anniversary. Denny was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was an avid outdoorsman, belonging to the Saginaw Field and Stream Club. He loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing football, baseball and golf. He had tremendous pleasure in coaching his son’s sports teams. Denny loved spending his time in the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan and winters in Florida. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He volunteered at the Veteran’s Hospital assisting in the counseling of fellow veterans and serving on a board that helped facilitate a program to ensure transportation from the parking lot to the hospital. Denny was a great storyteller to all. People were drawn to him because of his sense of humor, compassion, wealth of information and integrity. Denny lived his life the way he wanted to. His motto: “What you see, is what you get.” He had an amazing and unbreakable bond with his two sons.
