Went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Monday, December 10, 2018 at his home. He was 75 years old. William Duncan Budd, III was born on March 20, 1943 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late William Duncan and Marie (Stalsburg) Budd, II. He was a proud 1961 graduate of Saginaw High School. Following Graduation, William proudly enlisted into the United States Army from 1961 to 1964 where he served as military police. Upon his return he worked for the USPS, Saginaw Rock and lastly with Flint Metal Fab. He married Joan Mary Koviack on July 2, 1966; she preceded him in death on April 4, 2018. William was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. He was also an active member of the UAW where he served as safety officer. William was an avid sports fan, but loved basketball. He enjoyed going to the casino and playing bingo. William was politically active and really liked local politics. Above all, he loved and cherished his family, especially watching his granddaughter play sports.
Surviving are three daughters and a son, Nina (Mark) Swan of Saginaw, Becca (Joshua) Dalton of Bridgeport, William Duncan (Kristi) Budd, IV of Saginaw and Tanya (Tom) McFarlan of Chesaning; two grandchildren, Thea Swan and Zach McFarlan; one brother, Gary Budd of Saginaw; and a sister, Linda Fischer of Lansing. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ned; a sister, Alma; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Mary Koviack.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 3680 S. Washington Rd. Rev. Fr. Gerry Pehler, OFM Cap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Military honors will follow under the auspices of the United States Army and VFW Post #1566. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. William will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A vigil service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
