Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2019, at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 80 years old. William G. Schultz was born on December 15, 1938 in Alpena, Michigan to the late Theodore and Mable (Griffin) Schultz. He joined the U.S. Army on January 9, 1957. He served in Korea for 16 months from 1957-1958, where he made Staff Sgt. at 19 years old, an accomplishment he was very proud of. Bill married the love of his life, Maxine Mary Nowak on October 17, 1959. He retired as a locksmith after 57 years of service in the family business. Bill was a proud life member of Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW), Amateur Trap Shooting Association (ATA), Michigan Trap Shooting Association (MTA), Frankenmuth Conservation Club, and the American Legion Post 439. He was also a Hunter Safety Instructor for the State of Michigan for 30 years as well as an avid deer hunter for 40 years.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Maxine Schultz, whom he loved very, very much; three daughters, Kimberley (Alex) Sanchez, Debra (Shawn) Necker, and Laurel (Mario) Bargas; six grandchildren, Angela, Domonic, Ashley, Amanda, Mario Jr., and Leesa; eight great-grandchildren, Aubree, Braelyn, Savana, Cruz, Dahlia, Evander, Jordan, and Joshua; and four siblings, Dave (Patricia) Schultz, Bob (Sharon) Schultz, Sandy (Joe) LaPan, and Terry (Jeannie) Schultz; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bill is predeceased by an infant daughter, Dawn Marie Schultz; and four siblings, Thomas Schultz, Douglas Schultz, Nancy Doyle, and Jerry Schultz.
A funeral liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 3680 S. Washington Road, Saginaw, MI. Rev. Fr. Frank Voris, OFM Cap. will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the United States Army and American Legion Post #439. Honoring the familys wishes cremation will follow. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, Saginaw, MI as well as at the church Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project, the American Heart Association, St. Francis of Assisi Church, or a charity of choice.
