Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024 at his home at the age of 94 years.
The son of the late William A. and Byrdella (Forbes) Vlassis was born on November 22, 1929 in Saginaw. He married Clara Irene Shuler on May 10, 1952; she predeceased him on July 26, 2018. Bill was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, and active in their building and grounds committee. He was also a mason. Bill owned and operated Bill’s Party Store for over 60 years. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his three children: Peggy Vlassis, Angela Pinter and her husband, Duane, William Vlassis Jr., five grandchildren: William Vlassis III; Anthony Vlassis and his wife Michelle; Alexandra Vlassis and her husband Josh Dowell; Christopher Pinter; Anastasia Pinter; great-granddaughter Iris Dowell, sister-in-laws Carm Vlassis, sister-in-law and dear friend, EveLynn Shuler, his longtime employee and right-hand man: James Forester, his beloved dog, best friend and companion: Libby. Besides his wife and parents, Bill was predeceased by his sisters: Maire (Vlassis) Blake, Betty (Vlassis) Gailbraith, brothers Donald (Julie) Vlassis, Romaine Vlassis.
The funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2024 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 123 N. Michigan Ave. The Rev. Pamela Renna will officiate with burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service.
