Passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023. Age 92 years
He was born December 31, 1930, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Lydia (Andrews) and George L. Burrows III. He graduated from Arthur High School, Class of 1948. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Cornell University while serving in ROTC (Air Force). Upon graduating as a Captain in the Air Force, he went on to Stanford University earning a PhD in Chemistry. It was there that he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Parker and they were married after graduating from Stanford. She passed away on August 17, 2012. After completing post-Doctoral research at M.I.T., Dick went on to obtain a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Vanderbilt University and was able to land a teaching position at George Washington University in Washington D.C. He enjoyed spending time at Higgins Lake.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Parker Burrows, his sister, Louise Burrows Heilbronn and brother George Lord Burrows IV. Surviving are his nephews, George Heilbronn, Lawrence Heilbronn and Duane Heilbronn, his niece, Louisa Lawrence along with many great nephews and nieces, great great nephews and great nieces.
