Winifred Virginia "Winnie" Ellinwood Bad Axe, Michigan Passed away on October 29, 2017, at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe at the age of 98 years. Winnie, as she was affectionately known by friends, was born January 13, 1919 in Fostoria, Ohio to the late George and Irene (Lyons) Kiefer. She was united in marriage to Royal Ellinwood on July 10, 1937; he predeceased her August of 1982. Winnie was a homemaker, gardener, and a loyal member/supporter of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Saginaw. She participated in Dorcas Society, Golden Agers, and served on many fish dinners/fundraisers for the church. Winnie and her husband had lived in Saginaw area for 40 years. She moved to California in 1999 to be with her son Steven and his wife Annah. She lived there for 9 years before the family moved back to Michigan. While in California she joined the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Lodi. She enjoyed visiting Hawaii and various cities in California and Texas. She will always be remembered for her dedication to her church and family. She will be missed by her son, Steven (Annah) Ellinwood; grandchildren, Phyllis (Rod) Stone, Cathy Hartman, Megan Birchfield, and Jeff Ellinwood; 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her son, Gary (Connie) Ellinwood; siblings, Dorothy Edmonds, Loretta Gardyko, Blondina Sager, Edgar, Clifford, and Harold "Barney" Kiefer; and great-granddaughters, Holly Hartman and Emilee Williams. Funeral services will take place at 12:00 noon Friday, November 3, 2017, at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Phillip DeVries will officiate with private burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the service.
