Woodrow W. Doughty passed away peacefully Tuesday the 11th of April at the age of 101 yrs. Woody was born March 1, 1916. He married Maxine Lauckner in 1938 in Saginaw. He leaves behind his son Douglas, grandsons Aaron (Mary) and Sean. Woodrow and 4 close friends, all from Saginaw, after 1 & 1/2 years training in England and Wales landed with the 187th Ordnance Company on Omaha Beach July 7, 1944. All returned safely after the 187th was de-activated in late June 1945. He worked for Baker Perkins Company in various capacities for 30 years. Apart from his love for big band music and his activities with the Saginaw Antique Car Club he and Maxine were enthusiastic travelers and took numerous tours of England, Europe and North Africa. Woodrow is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Maxine, an extraordinarily special daughter-in-law Laurie Doughty and the vast majority of his life's acquaintances. Special thanks to Marva G, his long-term care giver, the staff of the VA hospital, the Cartwright Center and all his close relatives and friends who visited often. A visitation will take place from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Thursday April 20, 2017 at the W.L. Case and Co. Funeral chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw. Military burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the visitation. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to any one of your favorite veteran's organizations.
